Eco Therapy
Nature-based therapy offers an alternative to traditional indoor counselling by working outdoors in the peaceful meadow and woodlands of the Suffolk countryside. Sessions take place while sitting or walking in nature, providing space to talk through personal difficulties in a supportive and guided way. Being in nature has been shown to calm the nervous system, improve emotional regulation, and reduce stress, anxiety, and low mood. Working outdoors allows us to draw on nature’s soothing qualities, helping clients feel more grounded and able to explore difficult experiences. Nature’s cycles and changes often reflect the transitions we experience in our own lives. Using natural metaphors can deepen self-reflection and support the therapeutic process. As a trained ecopsychologist, I work from the principle of biophilia—the innate human need to connect with nature. Sessions are carefully planned to ensure safety and containment, and reflective eco-therapeutic practices are offered between sessions to support ongoing wellbeing.
